Zekkyou Bolero

Preview of Zekkyou Bolero, a stylish free Japanese font

Zekkyou Bolero (絶叫ボレロ) is a free-to-download “Typos style” Japanese font that was created based on two open-sourced font, by combining the kanji characters from Swei Spring JP in Bold weight, and the hiragana and katakana from GenEi LateGo V2. Typos style font (タイポス風フォント) is a style of font that carries the design characteristics of mincho (serif) strokes – the thin horizontal strokes and thicker vertical strokes, giving that stylish, classy contrasty look and combining with the cleanness and simplicity of gothic (sans serif) font. It’s akin to combining the best of both world I guess?

With its stylish and clean look, Zekkyou Bolero is suitable as typeface for ads and as brand font. It supports your common daily Japanese letters including hiragana, katakana and kanji characters. No official statement of the level of support, but with its large kanji library, I assume it at least fully compliant to JIS Level 2, which pretty much covers most use cases. You can download this font for free and be used in commercial projects, as this font is released under SIL Open Font License, v1.1.
