Wahupop

Preview of Wahupop font

Wahupop (和風ぽっぷ) is a bold Japanese pop style display font that is free to download. It combines the characters of the font Darumadrop One from Maniackers Design where it is an open-source font you can find on Google Fonts, and supplemented with the kanji characters from another open source font: M+ 1p (particularly with the black font weight). To match the vibe of the Darumadrop one, the kanji characters are “roughened” to create that ragged feel before combining. I would say they matched pretty well from the font weight and the texture perspective.

Wahupop is suitable for display style presentation with large font sizes to fully showcase the textures, the playfulness while maintaining the readability. Since this font is a combination of two open-source fonts, this font is released as an open-source font too, under SIL Open Font License. This means you can use it for personal and commercial projects. In my opinion, this font could be a suitable font to bring out the traditional Japanese style look.
