Umeboshi Zatsu Memo

Preview of Umeboshi Zatsu Memo, a mild scribbly handwriting style free Japanese font

Umeboshi Zatsu Memo (梅干雑メモフォント) is another free Japanese handwriting font from toga, the same creator behind Umeboshi Natural and Umeboshi Font. What sets this apart from Umeboshi Natural is that this one takes a softer, rounder approach. The name gives it away: “zatsu” (雑) means rough or casual, and “memo” (メモ) means notes, so the image it’s going for is something scribbled in a notepad without much fuss — quick, rounded strokes, a little quirky, but warm and legible.

Umeboshi Zatsu Memo covers pretty much the same as its sibling fonts: hiragana, katakana, half-width katakana, alphanumerics, major symbols, and kanji up to JIS Level 3. Vertical writing is supported as well. It’s free for download and be used on commercial projects, and no credit is required.
