Receipt Font

Preview of for Receipt Font

Receipt Font (レシートフォント) is a free Japanese display font that was constructed with dots in grid. According to the font designer, they took references from the font design on the expiry date label of the food products or packagings that you can find in Japan. With my faint memory of my trip to Japan, the expiry date on food packagings from the convenient stores are indeed printed in such typeface. The latin characters are constructed with the classic 5×7 grid, while the Japanese characters are constructed in 7×8 grid.

Receipt Font are display font, with its design, it’s recommended to use it with larger font size. The latin characters are easier to read and well constructed, while for the Japanese characters especially the intricate kanji characters, they are especially hard to read due to the lack of dots available. So I would recommend to use this font mainly for the latin, hiragana and katakana letters and less so for kanjis. Even so, the author has made this font to support all JIS Level 1 characters (about 3000 of them) and plus some additional ones. You can download and use this font for free for commercial use.
