Pixel Mplus12

Preview of Pixel Mplus12, a pixel style free Japanese font

Pixel Mplus12 is a pixel style free Japanese font you can download. It was created by outlining the M+ Bitmap Font (which was now a deprecated project), hence the font retained the bitmap look and design characteristics, just that it’s not truly constructed with square pixels. It comes with two sizes (10pt and 12pt), each with two weights (Regular and Bold). The 12pt version constructed with 12×12 square blocks so it is more refined with more details included. While the 10pt version worked with 10×10 blocks, therefore it looks a lot more constrained, but works better if the space available is extremely limited. Both version are the same fixed width or monospaced.

Pixel Mplus12 comes with the common Japanese letters you would expect, and it supports up to JIS Level 2 kanji support. This font works great for retro gaming interfaces, or for cool indie graphics explorations into digital and retro tech. It’s free to use for personal and commercial projects, as it’s license under the same M+ license.
