Nosutaru Dot (M+) (ノスタルドット（M+）) is a pixel style font free for download. It’s constructed based on the 12 by 12 pixel grid, with 1 pixel space on each side, the characters are designed within the 10 by 10 pixel constraint. The hiragana and katakana characters are made slightly smaller by comparison to the kanji characters counterpart, so the font looks more balanced with plenty of breathing space. Nosutaru Dot (M+) is created by combining the two bitmap fonts from Jikasei Foundry – “JFドットM+10” and “JFドットM+12”, which was designed based on the popular M+ font.

Nosutaru Dot (M+) should look the sharpest and crispiest under the 12 by 12 pixel font scaling, for example – 12px, 24px, 36px, 48px and so on. The pixelated effect should works great on designs that wanted to bring out the digital look, or the nostalgic bitmap games vibe (hence the name “nosutaru” which is the extracted Japanese pronunciation of the nostalgic word). This font is free to download and be used on personal and commercial projects.
