MaruMonica (マルモニカ) is a free pixel Japanese font that was created with 12 by 16 grid. Pixel font usually give a rigid look, however MaruMonica is elegantly designed with a balance of softness and seriousness, as according to the font designer. The full name of the font is x12y16MaruMonica and it has a condensed look as it was constructed with a 12 by 16 grid.

MaruMonica comes with the Japanese hiragana and katakana characters, with Chinese kanji characters fully supported up to JIS Level 2. Not only that, it also supports standard Latin and extended Latin, Greek and Cyrillic script as well. This font looks great if you turn off the anti-aliasing rendering for this font and it is suitable for projects that needed the bitmap, retro gaming look. You can download the font for free for any of personal and commercial projects.
