MaruMinya (マルミーニャ) is a cute free pixel Japanese font that was created with 12 by 12 grid. Maru in Japanese means circle or round, it’s well expressed in this font as the letters are more rounded than the typical pixel fonts. The font looks squarish as it was constructed with 12 by 12 pixel grid, hence the full name of the font is x12y12MaruMinya.

MaruMinya comes with the Japanese hiragana and katakana characters, with Chinese kanji characters fully supported up to JIS Level 2. Not only that, it also supports standard Latin scripts in both 1-byte or 2-byte form. This font looks great without the anti-aliasing rendering and it will look the crispiest on 12px-based scaling, eg. 12px, 24px 36px and so on. This font and it is suitable for projects that needed the bitmap, retro gaming look. You can download the font for free for any of personal and commercial projects.
