Chalk JP

Preview of Chalk JP, a display style free Japanese font

Chalk JP (チョーク体) is a free Japanese font that has the texture effect of writings with chalk stick. It was a font derived from Klee One, an open-sourced font hosted on Google Fonts by Fontworks. Basically, using Klee One as the base, the font author modified it by adding the fine rugged stroke effect to create the chalk-like text effect. With the added effect, the font retained the skeleton structure of each of the letters, hence it is still a very neat and highly readable font.

Chalk JP should be a good choice for creating design materials for education and learning institutions. Its chalk-like effect are able to replicate the writings on the black board, injecting the fun and fruitful learning experience to the design. It comes with the standard Japanese characters, including supporting kanji characters up to Adobe-Japan1-4 or equivalent to JIS Level 3. You can download this font for free and be used on commercial projects, as this font is released under SIL Open Font License.
