Kaisei Decol

Kaisei Decol (解星デコール) is a decorative Japanese mincho (serif) typeface and a companion face to Kaisei Opti within the Kaisei Project family. Like Opti, it shares the same kanji, Latin, and symbol glyphs across the family, but distinguishes itself through its kana design: the hiragana and katakana characters are unified with the same dot element found in the kanji strokes, resulting in a typeset page where the dot motif appears consistently throughout the text. This resulted the visual effect is one of gentleness and playfulness, reducing visual sharpness while lending the composition a cute and lively character.
Kaisei Decol is best suited for short text settings such as headings and display titles, and the designer recommends using it alongside Kaisei Opti for a well-balanced layout. It comes with three font weights from Regular to Bold, and supports the regular Japanese cahracters plus up to JIS Level 2 kanji characters. It is free to download and use in both personal and commercial projects, as it is released under SIL Open Font License, v1.1.
