M+ FONTS
M+ FONTS, designed by Coji Morishita (森下浩司), are a sets of Gothic style Japanese fonts that comes with many weights and variations. It’s a free software so you can use it freely for personal and commercial projects. This font project won several open source awards including “free fonts of the month” in Smashing Magazine, and also “Project of the Month” in SourceForge Japan. Great news is now all the M+ fonts are being hosted on Google Fonts.
Each font variation has 7 weights in total, from thin to black. For Japanese characters, there are two variations:
The M+ OUTLINE FONTS have 2 Kana variation: M+ 1 is unique in the contrast of straight lines and hand-drawn curves; M+ 2 takes in some traditional feature of Kana script in the overall modern sans-serif design. These 2 Kanas share the common design of Kanji glyphs.
